Barefoot hiker discovered useless after 100-foot fall in Arizona canyon
A barefoot hiker was found dead in Arizona after apparently slipping and falling more than 100 feet into a canyon, authorities said.
Seattle-based Jordan Brashears, 29, was reported missing after being separated from his group on Oct. 8 while hiking barefoot in Sedona’s Bayon Canyon to visit ancient ruins, Mercury News reported.
Authorities searched for him until it got too dark and returned the next morning by helicopter and drone.
One of his traveling companions found a jug of water he had been carrying, and then his phone and shoes were also discovered, the point of sale reported.
The search parties then found his body around 9 a.m. that morning
MPs said Jordan appears to have fallen around 100 [feet] From where it landed and was found, ”said the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office.
They said Brashears likely fell while trying to climb the canyon’s ledge.
“There is no evidence that Jordan did this on purpose or that it was a foul,” the authorities said.
Brashears’ page on Instagram revealed that he was an avid nature lover and shared photos from his recent trips to California and Arizona.
His last post on October 7th seemed to have him on a ledge of Sedona’s Cathedral Rock.
