Man dies after apparently falling greater than 100 toes throughout hike in Sedona
SEDONA, Arizona (AP) – Authorities in north-central Arizona say a man from Washington state died after apparently falling more than 30 meters during a hike.
Yavapai County Sheriff officials said they received an 911 call Friday night about an overdue hiker in Boynton Canyon, west of Sedona. Two men hiked 29-year-old Jordan Brashears and made their way to ancient ruins in the canyon.
Authorities say the three men were about half a mile from the Enchantment Resort on the east face of the canyon near a number of ruins when Brashears preceded them.
At the time, Brashears was walking barefoot and his two companions lost sight of him around a corner. They called and searched for at least an hour before turning to the sheriff’s office. The body was found on Saturday.
